My Safe Society: Smart App for Reporting Crimes and Suspicious Online Activity

UAE Government is actively working to counter digital crimes. The “My Safe Society” (Mujtama’i Amen) app was launched in the UAE by the Federal Public Prosecution in July 2018. UAE Public Prosecution launched a smart application, My Safe Society, an official smart application that aims to facilitate reporting of crimes or suspicious activities observed on social media directly to the Public Prosecution. That app allows users to report any online fraud activity. They can attach photos, videos, audio clips, and URLs as evidence and report any online fraud activity. This is how, users can immediately report crimes and fraudulent activities without any delay, and even without revealing the identity of the reporting person, which remains completely confidential. The app is free and available in Arabic and English on the App Store and Google Play.

My Safe Society is a smart mobile application offered by the UAE Public Prosecution, the federal judicial authority responsible for investigating crimes (Federal judicial authority responsible for investigation) and initiating criminal proceedings in the United Arab Emirates. The main purpose of launching this app is to give every member of the public a direct, secure, and confidential channel to report crimes or suspicious activities, particularly those observed on social media platforms that may disrupt national or social security, threaten public order, or negatively impact public opinion.

Digital media became highly accessible to everyone, within a few minutes, it can spread harmful content, online fraud, blackmail, or incitement. My Safe Society helps every responsible smartphone user become an active partner in public safety. In the past, most people were confused about where to report a suspicious post, a threatening video, or a fraudulent scheme circulating online; users can submit a structured report with evidence attached directly to the competent judicial authority in simple clicks, avoiding any complicated reporting method.

The app shows serious concern for the UAE Public Prosecution’s broader digital transformation strategy. UAE govt uses advanced technology to deliver high-quality judicial services, strengthen communication between the community and the judiciary, and preserve security and stability through joint effort between individuals and institutions.

Security is a shared responsibility. Law enforcement and judicial authorities facilitate the public in every possible manner to ensure safety. If the public acts responsibly and reports genuine violations immediately, authorities can help

• Act immediately against fraud, blackmail, and threats. Timely reporting can help you get compensation or recovery of your loss and can save more people from being harmed.
• UAE administrative authorities discourage negative content that incites hatred, spreads dangerous rumors, or damages the social status of anybody.
• To protect Susceptible groups, including children and youngsters, from online exploitation and scams.
• Preserve national and social security by signaling content that could destabilize public order.

Responsible reporting means reporting genuine concerns in good faith, with accurate information and available evidence. My Safe Society provides support in trust building between the community and the justice system and helps keep the UAE one of the safest countries in the world.

My Safe Society app reports are directly under UAE Public Prosecution without intermediaries, ensuring each complaint receives proper response and official attention from the competent judicial authority. The app maintains the confidentiality of individual reporting. Providing your identity is an optional feature. If someone is not interested in providing it, they can skip it, but even if the complainer does provide it, his identity will be strictly confidential. This app provides a better solution by allowing users to attach photos, videos, audio clips, and URLs with proof of their report, which is critical for enabling investigators to act effectively. The app allows users to describe the illegal act, its location, and the time it occurred, giving investigators the context they need.

Content published on social media or messaging platforms can be shared to My Safe Society directly from within other applications, making reporting faster and easier. The app is available in both Arabic and English, serving the UAE’s diverse population of citizens, residents, and visitors. My Safe Society is available freely on the Apple App Store and Google Play and offers free services to submit a report. The app supports follow-up contact if needed, improving communication around submitted reports.

The app is designed to quicken the crackdown against cyber activities and acts punishable under UAE law.  Social media plays a very important role in everyday life, so this app is particularly focused on offences committed or observed through social media and digital channels, including:

• On the My Safe Society app, users can immediately report online fraud and financial scams, including fake websites, phishing schemes, and fraudulent money-transfer requests.
• Blackmail and extortion, including threats to publish private photos or information, can be reported via this app.
• Content threatening national or social security, such as incitement, extremist material, or calls to disrupt public order.
• In the United Arab Emirates, sharing or reposting rumors, fake news, is a serious criminal offense under Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 on Combating Rumors and Cybercrimes. Rumors and misinformation that could harm public opinion, public health, or social stability can also be reported via the Safe Society app. Federal law covers false, misleading or erroneous news/rumours where the statutory conditions concerning public opinion, public peace, public interest, economy, public order or public health are met.
• Defamatory, offensive, or abusive content targeting individuals, institutions, or the state is also a very serious offence under this law. UAE Government encourages reporting such activities immediately via the Safe Society app.
• Privacy violations, such as photographing or filming people without consent and publishing the material online. Under UAE law, such violations carry severe penalties, including fines. UAE residents can report that via this app.
• If any person in Dubai observes any illegal acts or suspicious activities can immediately report them.

If possible, it’s better to attach proof along with the report. The Public Prosecution’s specialists will assess each report and determine the appropriate action.

1.  Search “My Safe Society” or “مجتمعي آمن” on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, download and install the official app published by the UAE Public Prosecution.
2. After installation, click on the report icon and select the relevant category of offence so your report reaches the relevant department and specialists.
3. After selecting the category, report the illegal act or suspicious activity, including where and when it occurred or was observed. It’s better to add all details, including location, date and time.
4. After completing the details, you can also attach Upload photos, screenshots, videos, audio clips, or links (URLs) that document the activity. You can also share content into the app directly from social media or messaging apps.
5. After attaching all details, your submission is transmitted directly to the UAE Public Prosecution. Revealing your identity is optional, and if you have added personal info, it will be kept highly confidential.
6. In some cases, you may get a follow-up call; the Prosecution may follow up for additional details through the app’s communication features.

The entire process typically takes only a few minutes, and reports can be filed at any time, from anywhere.

My Safe Society is available to everyone in the UAE community, no matter if you’re an Emirati citizen, an expatriate resident, or a visitor. No special status, registration with government systems, or legal knowledge is required. If you observe suspicious activity and operate a smartphone, you can report the crime and help protect the community.

My Safe Society is not a third-party service; it is developed and operated by the UAE Public Prosecution, the constitutionally established judicial body that investigates crimes and brings prosecutions in the federal courts. The app was launched under the direction of the Attorney-General as part of the Prosecution’s commitment to modern, technology-enabled justice, and its effectiveness was demonstrated almost immediately: the first case based on evidence received through the app was registered within days of launch.

Because reports reach directly into the judicial system, submissions are encouraged legally. Complaints are processed quickly and confidentially, and genuine violations can move from report to investigation to prosecution, turning every responsible report into real accountability.
