Divorce Settlements in Dubai

Divorce Settlements

May 2, 2023

Let’s discuss one of the biggest settlements for divorce here in this article. The divorce was granted in a month and it also took four months to decide the Alimony. The divorce settlement given by ABU DHABI Civil Family Court was more than AED 7 Million. It is believed to be and considered to be the largest divorce settlement until now. Abu Dhabi Family Courts have taken a splendid initiative first, though which is also being followed by other Emirates e.g. Dubai and Sharjah etc, where family courts are awarding amazing and quick judgements. Non-Muslim Women, are supposed to be awarded 35% of the total asset belongings of their Ex-Husband.

The verdict was granted to a couple living in ABU DHABI and residents of Abu Dhabi. The couple was living in Abu Dhabi, for a long time. The verdict was granted based on Civil Marriage Law 14 of 2021. Court-appointed an expert where expert determined the value of the assets and wealth of the husband. It’s a progressive approach towards, the personal status Law. The best part is, that divorce was given in less than a month and Alimony was granted in less than Four Months.

There have been big amendments in recent years, in Family Law for Muslims as well as Non-Muslims. Now as per the new Law, divorce can also be taken first and Alimony Case can be filled later. The new laws do handle civil marriages, divorce, custody, or shared custody and other rights better than before. The condition of choosing Sharia Law has already been abolished.
