Artificial Intelligence in United Arab Emirates

UAE has been quite serious and interested in AI or Artificial Intelligence for the last few years. Millions of Dollars are funded by Dubai, Abu Dhabi and collectively UAE government to get the skills and a distinguished position in AI or Artificial Intelligence, throughout the world. Recently the UAE Artificial Intelligence and the Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Office has released an AI Charter of UAE. Basically, it was issued in last month, in July 2024. We will discuss this new AI charter of the UAE government here. Through this new charter, the UAE government urges and supports the AI development in the UAE. A new advanced framework is introduced which defines and clarifies the aim of the UAE government regarding AI development, protecting the interests of UAE and urging the residents to work on AI and make some inventions. This new AI charter of UAE government takes the initiative to setup a specific environment which is friendly and supportive and it ensures the safety and privacy. First of all, it is planned in the charter that all the objectives and set goals of AI, will be based on safety and positivity. A positive approach will be adopted to create advantages and benefits in the region. There should be no harm to humanity. Any activity that urges the negative approach and objectives, will not be entertained. It is very important to define the goals first, therefore this charter first clarifies its objectives which are all about the wellbeing of residents and other people living across the UAE.

AI or Artificial Intelligence program is a training program launched by the National Program for Artificial Intelligence in the United Arab Emirates with the collaboration of the University of Birmingham. University of Birmingham is providing the training with the assistance of National Program for Artificial Intelligence. The program covers the learning, risks, improvement, human safety, new discoveries, and innovations regards to AI in UAE. It aims to deliver the maximum knowledge and training to participants of AI program. At its beginning level, the program is only introduced for the officials working in UAE government. But hold on, let us tell you that there is no restriction for private interest holders, employees, common individuals and professionals. It is aim to train the program participants in a way so they could bring the advancements and innovation in AI and could promote AI in UAE vision. There is another dimension that needs to be discussed this regard and that is standards of data privacy. This new charter strongly focuses on the data and its privacy. New charters clarify that data and its privacy and the privacy of people should not be compromised at any level. There is no acceptance policy if the AI activity and any approach contradicts with human privacy and the data turns into a problem itself. Therefore a strong check and accountability is kept. It is agreed in the charter that human privacy, ethics, safety, living and interests will not be crossed or hit.
